DEGREES OF CONSERVATION (GRADING) according to the Regulations for Experts and NIP Experts (Professional Italian Numismatics)

D - Fair: Fair is the lowest grade of a collector's coin. Of the design originally imprinted by the coinage, only the outline remains, the letters of the inscriptions can only be read in part, at times it shows traces of corrosion that have nicked the metal, the weight is no longer significant for research purposes.

B - Beautiful: Beautiful, which basically is not beautiful, except that the coin, due to its rarity, does not represent a document that is difficult to replace. The design is recognized for its essential details, the inscriptions are still legible, but the traces of long use are evident, however the weight loss does not exceed a few percentage points.

MB - Very Nice: Very nice is the condition of a coin that has circulated for a long time with strong traces of wear and losing some details of the design, but the reliefs are defined enough to allow you to observe the main features.

BB - Beautiful: Beautiful is the normal condition of the coins that have circulated, but not for too long and without serious trauma. The drawings are completely preserved, except for some minor details and in the details, the strokes on the edge are light and not disfiguring. The general appearance is pleasant and can sometimes be accompanied by a nice patina.

SPL - Splendido: Splendido sticks to a coin that has very slight traces of circulation, has not lost much of its original luster and even the slightest detail of the design. Impacts on the edge and other defects such as traces of adjustment, scratches and fractures are however compatible with SPL preservation, but must be reported.

FDC - Fior di Conio: It is to be considered the highest degree of conservation as it represents the coin in its mint state. Brilliant Uncirculated is a coin that shows no traces of circulation, even under the magnifying glass with ten magnifications. Small signs of contact with other coins are allowed if they were unavoidable in the production process or in storage (for example transport in jute bags).

It should be remembered that the degree of conservation indicated in the catalog in the sheet relating to each individual coin is still the result of an opinion expressed by the compiler.

However, this judgment was made on the basis of professionally accepted principles and in the most rigorous way possible with regard to the truthfulness and reliability of the preservations themselves.
